It is quite amazing, but I managed to finish a 11 page comic with pencils and inking in a week and a half. D; I guess this happens when you haven't drawn any comics in two years or so. I am joining with a couple of my friends to create a book about Ogata. I don't usually draw this kind of fan stuff, so I guess this is a sort of rare opportunity for me.
How do you usually draw comics? What I tend to do is to make pencil sketches and using a light box, ink through that way. There are people that can do pencils and then do the final without a light box which I think is very amazing. Using the light box can be tiring because the light is bright, and it can strain my eyes. The box is also very hot as well. So often times, the most I can manage to do is ink two pages and take a rest. Well, I suppose I should take a rest anyway after all that work!
I wish that there was an easier way to do things. I enjoy my pencils a lot and have found that it's easier to re-do panels if I still have my pencils. I also do not have to worry about erasing after inking if I had done it directly on the pencils.
I had some more interesting things to say about this, but now I'm really tired so I guess I might go back and edit this later. :-(

The light box method!! I would love to try it someday (maybe as soon as this thursday!) but I don't have a lightbox at home. How I draw comics: dialogue, thumb, boaders, pencils, ink, erase, cry, scan, letters. Yay!

AHh for my ogata comic, I did full size doodley draft, then repenciled on new pages, and I ink directly over those. It's pretty disastrous, but I don't have a lightbox at home either! Sadly, I like some of the drawings I did on the doodley draft more than the "cleaned" pencils I did for the real pages!
But right, I usually just do pencils + ink on the same paper if I'm not worried about page limits :)

urs- Aw, it's funny how you have that 'cry' step in there. That's me while I'm inking. D: Like "everything looked better in the pencils" or "it was perfect the first time yet..." I think that you will really like the comic!!! Please look forward to reading it all. XD

XD This all started because we met at your house and also because of someone's ubercool button machine. <3 I like the drawings I do in doodles more than the stuff I do that's "finished." I used to ink straight to the pencils, but after so many bouts of crying and cursing and "why aren't the lines dark enough?!" and "all the ink just fell out from the nib..." I decided to use the light box. :3 I am less stressed! *O*;
