2008/08/17 - Eye Patch Girl

I used to draw kind of pure and naive girls but now recently all of the girls and women I draw seem kind of dangerous or have some kind of mental problem.  Maybe it's me.

The pens I used for the black lines don't seem to handle Copic markers very well and they kind of run. :-/  These pens also fade out when you take an eraser to them after going over pencils.  This was one of the reasons why I switched over to nib pens and India ink for inking comics after a while.  But my hand shakes so unlike my friend who is a professional manga-ka, my lines aren't very smooth to the touch and are actually kind of rocky.  I think it's because I am unable to have the ink come out uniformly when I draw. orz

Such a stylish eyepatch girl!!!
I think I only draw non-naive and non-pure girls XD.
It's good that you have a variety :D!

I am terrible at nibs D: *pokes holes in paper* I think just the way I 'naturally' angle my pen makes the ink not want to flow out either! Koyar is amazing at inking with nibs (her lines are sSTUPIDDDDD smooth)! Now I just pigment liners cause I am lazy to deal with cleaning nibs D:.

I never noticed any 'rocky-ness' with your lines though (it doesn't show in scans)!

Thanks for your comment! I think because I started only drawing naive and pure girls that I can still keep drawing them from time to time. *A*

The rockyness comes from when you feel the inks in person. My friend and other people I've seen using G-pen and India ink- their lines are smooth to the touch whereas mine are raised from the paper! It must be the way in which I try to force the ink out. I didn't realize that Koyar inked with nibs- but now that makes sense! :D

Aw, it's too bad that your pen makes holes in the paper and the ink can not flow out. Maybe it's the nib you are using? *A* Yeah, I am using pigment liners and brush pen lately since I don't have the space to ink with nibs. I'm afraid I'll knock over the ink bottle! Also, it sucks when too much ink flows out of the nib or when you accidentally smear the ink while inking. ;_; The tragedies of inking with nibs!
